Description
Malnutrition poses a significant challenge to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). Despite its impact, nutrition is often overlooked in corporate strategies. The growing adoption of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices offers an opportunity to integrate nutrition into responsible business reporting, aligning corporate actions with public health goals. In India, SEBI’s (Securities and Exchange Board of India) mandate for ESG disclosures among the top 1000 companies underscores the urgency to prioritize workforce nutrition, a critical metric for employee well-being and productivity.
This roundtable thus aims to mobilize businesses, foster collaboration, and advocate for including nutrition metrics in ESG frameworks. By doing so, companies can enhance risk management, demonstrate sustainable development commitment, and create positive societal and economic impacts.
Key discussion topics include business readiness to adopt nutrition practices, opportunities for the food sector and MSMEs, regulatory roles, and aligning industry efforts with consumer demand for healthier products. This initiative seeks to drive collaboration among private sectors, regulators, investors, and civil society to embed nutrition into business practices, advancing public health, sustainability, and resilience in India.
