Description
In the ENOUGH campaign, child participation was a cornerstone of the initiative, particularly during the launch event, where children engaged in meaningful consultations, dialogue, and collaborative brainstorming to identify key priorities related to food security. Through this dialogue, they collectively identified four critical themes: making nutritious food more affordable, improving access to food for vulnerable communities, increasing investment in local agriculture and food production, and addressing the decline in food quality. The children then translated these themes into comprehensive visual presentations through posters, each highlighting their key insights and detailing specific “Asks” directed at government officials, ministerial representatives, policymakers, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders. These Asks ranged from policies to ensure affordable nutritious food, enhanced food access programs, and greater support for local farming, to the implementation of measures addressing food quality standards. During the event, the children were provided a dedicated platform to present their case, advocating for these Asks directly to decision-makers and participating in substantive discussions. This approach empowered the children to not only express their concerns but also to influence policy discourse, underscoring the value of including youth voices in shaping solutions to critical challenges like food security.
