Description
On the 1/5/2025, at Akagera cluster headquarter, Kiramuruzi, the team of WVR-Akagera cluster and Caritas Byumba as an implementing partner of WVR in PDH Project meet in the partner evaluation of these activities within last 6 months period.
The each team introduced their selves so that to work both know each other and then The WVR-Akagera cluster Aime ITANGANEZA, Sponsorship and partnership coordinator introduce the session by welcoming the Caritas team. The Director of Caritas Byumba also expressed their gratitude to WVR good partnership that result in well implementation of activities aiming at fighting against malnutrition in children under 5 years old.
The main parts to evaluate are:

- Detailed Implementation plan (By Caritas Byumba)
- Within this 6month period, Caritas Byumba reached 23150 people who participated in Supporting quarterly community sensitization around best infant feeding practices, national and international nutrition-related events (MNCH Week, 1000 days campaign, breastfeeding international days, deworming campaigns.
- All villages in Akagera cluster were reached in Facilitation of cooking demonstration sessions using local foods at village levels.
- 589 Community Health Workers attended meeting to assess and plan household counselling in family’s children aged 0-23 months
- 26,571 people were reached in Supporting monthly Growth Monitoring at community village level
- 20 health workers and local leaders were trained on PD hearth facilitations
- 156 CHW and volunteers were Trained and facilitated to rehabilitate the malnourished children through Hearth sessions.
- 903 households were Facilitated in home follow-up visits to reinforce and encourage caregivers to continue the positive practices at home
- 82 Early Childhood Development were Supported with startup kits (used in cooking, hygiene…)
- 270 head of ECDs were trained on health, Hygiene and child feeding practices
- 472 Home based ECD centers were facilitated to effectively records health related information for children in ECD.
