Themes
The dialogue focused on the theme of « Community-Led Initiatives to Alleviate Hunger Amongst Almajiri Children, » addressing issues of hunger, food insecurity, child vulnerability, and the rights and dignity of Almajiri children.
Issues
- Food insecurity among Almajiri children.
- Challenges in accessing adequate and nutritious meals, including reliance on begging and consumption of spoiled food.
- Lack of parental care and income-generating skills.
- Exploitation in the distribution of food donations meant for Almajiri children.
Processes
- Safeguarding principles and child protection measures will be adhered to, ensuring the dignity and rights of the children during the dialogue.
- Guided discussions will allow the children to share their daily experiences with food, the sources of their meals, and the challenges they face in getting enough to eat.
