AP Buberuka, Buranga cluster: Community Health Workers quarterly meeting continue helping them to assess and plan household counselling for families with children aged 0-23months

RWERERE: On the 12^th Feb 2025, Through PDH project of Caritas Byumba  and World Vision Rwanda, Caritas Byumba conducted a quarterly meeting with 56 CHW to assess and plan household counselling for families with children aged 0-23months. The meeting aimed at equipping CHWs with knowledge to ensure a close follow up and teaching pregnant and lactating mothers on proper nutrition during conception.

Objectives

* Organize PDH session to rehabilitate malnourished children that were identified after the screening activity

* To engage CHWs into encouraging pregnant and lactating mothers to use health and nutrition services for their children

Methodology

The meeting used both a presentation and an open discussion where Caritas Byumba went through the benefits of proper nutrition as well as consumption of a well-balanced diet from conception to birth for pregnant mothers and lactating mothers in prevention of malnutrition for the conceived child.

In addition, the best Hygiene practices and sanitation in preventing malnutrition in children under 5years is also insisted.
