Description
World Vision International Nepal aims to strengthen the engagement of adolescents, young people, schools and local governments in promoting nutritious, locally sourced and sustainable mid-day meal programmes in Madhesh Province. This initiative combines capacity building, youth-led advocacy and stakeholder dialogue, school meal summit to improve understanding of multisectoral nutritionand school meals, strengthen local accountability and encourage coordinated action among schools, communities and government authorities. The school summit further provides a platform for young people and relevant stakeholders to share concerns, develop practical recommendations and promote local commitments for better nutrition outcomes.
Key objectives are:
Objectives of the Programme:
● To strengthen participant’s knowledge of nutritional status, dietary diversity, locally
available foods, life cycle-based nutrition and the golden 1,000 Days.
● To improve understanding of anemia, MHM, WASH, MUAC, BMI, ultra-processed foods
and mid-day meal.
● To promote healthy, diverse, locally available and sustainable food choices.
● To strengthen participant’s skills in youth advocacy and develop practical skills through
role plays, songs, drama, meal planning, group activities, IEC material development and
other interactive activities.
● To engage students, schools, families, health workers and local stakeholders through the
school summit and Poshan Mela.
● To support the development of practical policy recommendations and local commitments
for improving school meals and nutrition programmes.
