Nutrition for Growth
The first Nutrition for Growth Summit , hosted by the UK Government in London in 2013 and linked to the London Olympics, achieved commitments of over US$4 billion to address malnutrition, and US$19 billion in complementary nutrition-sensitive investments between 2013 and 2020. In 2017, stakeholders gathered in Milan for the Global Nutrition Summit to follow up on the commitments made in London, assess progress made, and continue to build the coalition of global nutrition champions. This Summit generated an additional US$3.4 billion in commitments for nutrition. At the 2021 Nutrition for Growth Summit in Tokyo , Japan, at least 331 commitments were submitted by 156 stakeholders, including 66 countries and 20 private sectors, and financial contributions amounting to over US$27 billion were announced.
France will host the next Nutrition for Growth Summit in Paris on 27 and 28 March 2025. This summit aims to mobilize the international community, in particular private sector and civil society actors, around the theme of nutrition in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals set by the UN 2030 Agenda.
Sustainable Development Goals
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a common blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and in the future. At its core are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) , which constitute an urgent call to action for all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand in hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality and foster economic growth – all while addressing climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
