Nutrition for Growth
France hosted the 2025 Nutrition for Growth Summit (N4G) in Paris. The summit advocated for ambitious financial and political commitments and fostered dialogue among diverse actors from around the world, including governments, international organizations, research institutions, civil society organizations, philanthropies, private sector entities, and more. The international community made ambitious commitments to tackle the challenge of malnutrition in all its forms: over US$27 billion in nutrition funding was announced.
In 2013, the UK Government hosted the first Nutrition for Growth Summit in London, linked to the London Olympic Games. It secured commitments of over US$4 billion to tackle undernutrition, and US$19 billion in complementary nutrition-sensitive investments between 2013 and 2020. In 2017, stakeholders gathered in Milan for the Global Nutrition Summit to track against pledges made in London, take stock of progress made, and further build the coalition of global nutrition champions. This Summit generated an additional US$3.4 billion in nutrition pledges.
At the 2021 Nutrition for Growth Summit in Tokyo, Japan, at least 331 commitments from 156 stakeholders including 66 countries and 20 private sector entities were submitted and financial contributions amounting to over US$27 billion were announced.
Sustainable Development Goals
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
